Privacy Policy for HabitSage

HabitSage is an iOS app designed to help you manage habits, goals, and follow-through. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected, how it may be used, and what choices you have.

1. Information We May Collect

Email address and correspondence

If you contact us, request support, or otherwise choose to correspond with us, we may collect the email address you provide and the contents of your message.

App data stored on your device

HabitSage may store information you create in the app, such as habits, goals, notes, check-ins, preferences, and settings. This information is generally stored on your device.

Optional OpenAI API key

If you choose to enable optional OpenAI-powered features, you may enter your own OpenAI API key. The app is designed to store that key locally on your device in Apple Keychain.

Optional tips

HabitSage does not charge for its core features. If the app offers a tip option, any tip is voluntary. Tips are processed through Apple's in-app purchase or app marketplace systems, as applicable.

2. How We Use Information

We may use information to:

operate and maintain the app;
save your settings and app content;
respond to support requests and other correspondence;
provide optional AI-assisted features you choose to use;
improve reliability, fix bugs, and maintain the app.

3. Apple On-Device AI

Some features may use Apple-provided on-device intelligence features available on your device. When those features run on-device, the information used for those features is processed on your device rather than sent to us.

4. Optional OpenAI Connection

Use of OpenAI is optional.

If you choose to provide your own OpenAI API key, the app may use that key to send the text or other content you choose to process to OpenAI in order to provide optional AI features. OpenAI's handling of that data is governed by your relationship with OpenAI and by OpenAI's own terms and privacy policies.

You can stop using OpenAI features at any time by removing your key from the app, if supported, or by deleting the app.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information only:

with Apple or the relevant app marketplace as needed to process optional tips or platform functions;
with OpenAI, only when you choose to use optional OpenAI-powered features and supply your own key;
if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

6. Data Retention

Email correspondence may be kept as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you and maintain support history.
App content remains on your device until you delete it, remove it in the app, or remove the app, subject to any device backup or sync features you enable.
Your optional OpenAI API key remains stored locally until you remove it from the app, if supported, or delete the app.

7. Your Choices

You can:

use the core app without enabling optional OpenAI features;
choose not to contact us by email;
remove app data inside the app, where available, or delete the app from your device;
manage permissions such as notifications through iOS Settings.

8. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information we handle, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

9. Children's Privacy

HabitSage is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
